EVOWHEY PROTEIN
by SportSeries is our benchmark protein, as it is the HSN-flavored version of Whey protein, which is the go-to choice among those who are starting to use protein powder as part of their diet. It is one of the most popular options as an all-rounder protein for athletes and people who maintain healthy lifestyles, whatever their level of experience with food supplements.
Whey protein concentrate is obtained through a combined process of microfiltration and ultrafiltration of whey, which is separated from casein during the cheese making process by the dairy industry. It is considered an easily digested and rapidly absorbed protein.
Evowhey Protein is a premium quality protein made from the milk of grass-fed cows. At HSN we are committed to animal welfare, and we only use raw materials that ensure all the guarantees of care and livestock control; something that is also reflected in the quality of the milk, and therefore, in the protein.
It’s Whey Protein Concentrate – A very versatile protein
One of the many reasons why Evowhey is a tremendously successful protein is due to its practicality of use.
Evowhey is easy to mix, carry, and drink anytime, anywhere, from morning to evening, as well as around your workout. It can be used as part of a meal or as a snack between meals, without any other food.
What’s more, its good digestibility makes Evowhey the perfect protein to take to university, work or study sessions, so you can have a shake and get on with your homework without digestive heaviness. And thanks to its rapid digestion, the release of protein into the bloodstream is also fast (Hoffman et al., 2004).
Whey protein concentrate is the protein of choice (along with whey protein isolate or ‘iso’) for all protein powder users looking for a reliable protein that works for any time of day.
And if you’re looking for an unflavored option, because you prefer to add flavors yourself, or to make shakes with the natural taste of WPC, there’s Whey Protein Concentrate 80% the unflavored version of Evowhey Protein.
Important! No added amino acids – Real protein content
For decades, amino acids have been added to proteins, a practice known as ‘amino spiking’, promoted by American companies with a strong marketing focus, but this practice is not recommended, except in specific cases.
Protein powders have a protein content that is established based on the nitrogen content of the product. If amino acids, which are nitrogenous compounds, are added to a protein, their protein value is increased, but this is not a ‘real’ content, but an artificial way of increasing the protein content.
A WPC contains between 40 and 80% protein, depending on how the protein is filtered and for what purpose it is to be used. The most common for instant use in food, as a protein powder, is 80% protein.
If you find a protein powder that is whey protein concentrate (Whey) with 90% protein and you are told that it is not isolated (iso), this protein value is not real but is due to the addition of nitrogenous compounds to the protein.
Adding amino acids to a protein doesn’t always have to be a bad thing. For example, in our Evopro vegan, which is a blend of premium plant-based proteins, we add extra Leucine and Methionine to the formula. However, these amino acids aren’t added to increase the protein value of Evopro vegan, but rather because plant-based proteins benefit greatly from an additional supply of these amino acids to compensate for their nutritional deficiencies.
A whey protein, like Evowhey, needs no added amino acids, as it is complete in itself. That’s why we bring it to you like this, a quality protein, as it should be.
Around 80% protein – Pure raw material with a high protein content
The protein content of Evowhey Protein is 80% of its composition.
Its proteins have been structurally cared for by using only first-rate European raw materials for the development of our proteins. This guarantees a protein filtering and atomization process that respects the natural protein structures of the whey.
The protein presented as unflavored raw material is pure, containing no additives other than lecithin which allows for instant mixing (this is explained later).
If you’re wondering… So why is my protein 77g and not 80g?
The WPC we use is 80% protein, the highest reference value for a whey concentrate. However, when flavors are developed the protein contribution decreases a little, because the flavorings, colorings, sweeteners, and ingredients that allow you to enjoy the delicious options of Evowhey Protein take up space, that space is what subtracts protein.
The variations are so minor that our nutritionists recommend not choosing the flavor of protein by its protein content, but instead focusing on which flavor you will enjoy the most, as the difference between 77g and 80g of protein is barely 1g per shake.
