Phil Donahue (1935-2024) was media personality and writer. The Phil Donahue Show ran from 1967 to 1996 and was a pioneer in the daytime talk show format. The show featured many public figures from politicians, celebrities, and athletes. Rachel Mclish made an appearance on the show in 1984. At the time, competitive bodybuilding was still a new sport for women. The general public was not so accepting or understanding of it. Looking at some of the audience reactions some appear to be less favorable. Rachel discusses how to do exercises and general information about the sport. Donahue then asks a question about breast size, which does not seen very professional. Rachel does answer the question and gives a basic anatomy lesson. Talk shows like Phil Donahue did provide a platform for athletes and the sport.
