Parenting is not a simple task. Raising children in a chaotic and unpredictable world can be frightening. Many dynamics operate within family life. Relations vary between members of a family. The nuclear family was the traditional standard. The contemporary status of the family unit is not based on this model. Single parent homes, living with other relatives, or same sex couple families are becoming more prevalent. Other choose to never have a wife, husband, or children. Mothers tend to spend more time with children. They are the first to socialize the young . When it comes to raising children gender and behavior are factors. Raising boys can be different than in comparison to girls. The years from birth to adolescence show vast mental and physical development. Mothers raising sons have a unique experience. The mother and son bond differs from that of the father. The relation changes during the teenage years. Boys change physically growing stronger. Mothers need to employ discipline in youth to prevent sons from becoming a static.

The mother and son bond begins at birth. The mother is the first person a baby connects with. Boys cling to their mothers like barnacles. This period of life boys are developing their perceptions of girls and women. Mothers and sisters are the first women boys know. Mothers who raise their sons notice a difference. Little boys are more rambunctious. Getting them to sit, get dressed, or stay focused can be a challenge. This explains why teaching boys in preschool and elementary school takes patience. Personalities vary among boys despite these noticeable traits. Boys tend to more of a predilection for physical activity. Mothers should understand a boy is going to be energetic. Prepare to being doing long hours of play and providing much attention. Fathers are expected to do rough and tumble play with children. Seeing as mothers are spending more time with them it should be them as well. Children need rules and discipline. Otherwise, behavioral issues become a problem. Mothers must learn to discipline misbehavior by sons. This should not be the role of the father or partner. Single mothers must be very conscious of this to prevent their sons from getting into trouble. Mothers must take other approaches when raising sons.

Mothers see the changes in boys as they mature. The most prominent change is related to physicality and strength. When a boy reaches puberty musculoskeletal mass increases. What mothers see and realize is their sons get stronger than them. The child a woman once carried is now capable of picking her up. By age 13, boys get stronger than girls. Around ages 15 to 16 a teenage boy has more strength than an adult woman. Discipline can no longer be physical punishment. Spanking is one method of employing discipline. This might not be effective in youth. Children might brace themselves for spankings. Mothers doing this on teenagers would not be effective.

When Sons Get Strong and Growth – The boy that women give birth to will grow to be a man. He will be stronger and go through a stage of rebellion.

The hits probably would not hurt. This might make it harder to get them to do certain things. All teens go through some form of rebellion. Teenage boys might engage in risky behavior or do something dangerous. This is the stage when masculine identity becomes important to them. A teenage boy needs some form of male guidance. Raising a son is harder for single female parents. When boys get bigger it becomes difficult to get them to do things. The desire to rebel, argue, or challenge a parent increases. If rules or boundaries are not set a teenage boy can be out of control. At extremes it could mean poor performance in school, general misbehavior, or the worse case of being a juvenile incarceration statistic.

Parental discipline is a necessity. This is even more important with boys. To an extent parenting has become too permissive. Many parents are not teaching children manners or appropriate behavior. This makes it more frustrating for teachers of elementary and middle school. It explains why so many teachers quit. Teaching kindergarten can even be stressful for educators. Parents have to teach their children appropriate behavior before being sent to school. Unfortunately, this does not happen. The reason parents are too lenient on their children relates to how they were raised. Some may have come from a strict household and do not want to replicate it. Others may come from a home that was too permissive and just continue that with children of their own. Spoiling a child is not doing them favors. The result of such an upbringing creates selfish, entitled, and narcissistic adults. Mothers are going to have to be firm disciplinarians at times. Being too strict is not positive either. Restraining a child or teenager too much means they could be more erratic when given more freedom. A balance can be achieved. Mothers should not resist being a firm disciplinarian. The dated notion is that this is the father’s role in a nuclear family. Both parents should fulfill this role. Mothers can have an easier time raising sons with this general advice.
